A certified speech and language pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats adults and children with disorders related to speech, language, cognition, voice, stuttering, and swallowing. Goals emphasize improving the patients overall listening, reading, speaking, swallowing, and writing skills. From disorders relating to cancer of the throat and mouth to those dealing with speech and language delay and articulation impairments, the trained professional develops an individualized program to meet each patient's needs.
