International Travel Consulatation

Preventive Care is essential when planning trips out of the country to ensure a healthy and safe visit. Many people travel regularly for business and pleasure, therefore it is important to take advantage of the mot appropriate vaccines offered. Failure to follow immunization guidelines can cause development of a preventable disease for travelers who are note adequately immunized.

Many vaccinations are not routinely given in the United States that may be required in certain countries, such as hepatitis A, meningitis, typhoid, Japanese B encephalitis, or yellow fever to name a few. It is also important to consider booster vaccines for previous childhood immunizations including polio, measles, tetanus, and diphtheria. It is also prudent to know when the flu season begins in the country of destination as this can vary from the United States and a flu vaccine may be a consideration. International travel preparation generally begins four to six months prior to departure and may include multiple vaccine series. This time also allows for sufficient immunity to develop from the vaccines administered.

The Corporate Connection at Mercy Memorial Hospital is able to provide international travel series for both businesses and individuals.
