Inpatient Psychiatry
Sometimes a person challenged with a mental illness needs the structure and support of an inpatient setting to regain the coping skills that will enable him or her to function again in the community.
The inpatient psychiatric program at Mercy Memorial Hospital is staffed by dedicated and caring mental health professionals who provide 24-hour services in a hospital setting. Our program uses a variety of treatment modalities to meet the special needs of each patient. The focus of treatment is to:
- Help the patient resolve the immediate crises
- Improve the patient's ability to function independently in the community
- Teach the patient specific strategies for maintaining optimum health
- Facilitate the patient's return to family, work, and community
- Coordinate planning for continuing treatment once the patient leaves the hospital
As part of the Mercy Memorial Hospital continuum of care, patients have ready access to other health care services that are convenient and timely.
