Monroe County Medical Control Authority The Monroe County Medical Control Authority is one of the 68 approved medical control authorities responsible for coordinating the delivery of emergency medical services for the 83 counties in Michigan. A Medical Control Authority (MCA) is a hospital or organization of hospitals responsible for the coordination of emergency medical services in a geographic region, usually a county or group of counties. The coordination of emergency medical services provided by MCAs includes the ongoing planning and development of written protocols for the practice of life support agencies within its region. These protocols include the acts, tasks and functions that may be performed by each type of EMS personnel, as well as protocols to ensure appropriate life support agency dispatching based upon medical need and the resources of the EMS system. The written protocols linked to this page have been approved by the Monroe County Medical Control Authority and the EMS Section, Michigan Department of Community Health. Protocols approved by the Medical Control Authority
are submitted to affected life support agencies for review and comment. The review and
comment period is sixty days. The protocol is also submitted to the Department of Consumer
and Industry Services for approval. Newly approved protocols will also be posted on this
web site for review and comment. Please send your comments to: ems@mercymemorial.org |
