Employee Assistance

Why an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

Nearly 70 percent of the workforce will experience a personal problem so severe that it affects their ability to work. One in five adults will experience a mental health problem that requires treatment. Seventy percent of those who abuse alcohol or drugs are employed.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's) are worksite-based programs designed to help employees identify and resolve personal problems that affect job performance. Employers find real cost savings in EAP's. Studies have shown a savings of $2 for every $1 spent on EAP's; other employers have demonstrated a savings of $5 or more in increased productivity, lower absenteeism, and fewer injuries.

Mercy Memorial Offers Five Core Services

Mercy Memorial's EAP includes the five core services prescribed by the National Employee Assistance Professional Association: policy development, employee education, problem identification, counseling, and referral services. We specialize in personalized services that meet the needs of individuals and employers.

Short-term management consultation is available to help managers, supervisors, and other leaders use the program effectively. Orientation and continuing education is available for employees and supervisors.

EAP is a confidential service that respects the privacy of individual employees and family members.

Corporate clients also have access to hospital-based, critical incident debriefing teams.
