Diabetic Series
Learn how to effectively manage diabetes and adopt changes to improve overall health. Choose from a variety of options to meet your specific needs.
Individual instruction includes meal planning, training for monitoring your sugar levels, properly taking insulin, pattern management for treating high sugars, or managing diabetes during pregnancy. The Diabetes Education Series includes a one hour individual assessment and up to 9 hours of group instruction. The program addresses living with diabetes, basic nutrition, treatment options, and management of health related risks. A family member or friend may accompany you at no additional cost. Breast-Feeding Education
This class, taught by a registered nurse, provides breast-feeding instruction for new and expectant mothers. The classes will cover a wide range of topics, including breast-feeding positions, nutritional requirements, concerns, the baby's demand for milk, hygiene, returning to work, weaning and additional resources and assistance. Only five dollars to attend.

Childbirth Preparation Classes
These classes are designed to prepare the expectant mother and her support person for childbirth. Women are encouraged to call early in their pregnancy to sign up for these classes. Instructors are registered nurses from Mercy Memorial Hospital.

"Refresher Classes" For Childbirth Preparation
A refresher class is offered for couples who have previously given birth and just need a review before giving birth again.

Classes are offered by Mercy Memorial Hospital and the American Heart Association. To register or for more information, Call (734) 240-4470.
