Total Joint Program
Disease, injury and the aging process may produce wear and tear on joints and cartilage. When this happens, worn cartilage may no longer serves as a cushion. Damage to weight bearing surfaces such as hip and knee joints may lead to pain, stiffness and weakness; limiting the ability to walk, climb and perform activities of daily living. When pain does not respond to conservative care (anti-inflammatory medication, injections or physical therapy) joint replacement surgery may be recommended.
