Orthopedic Surgeon Joins Mercy Memorial Staff

Mercy Memorial Hospital System is pleased to announce that Daniel W. Olenchak, D.O., has accepted a position as an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital and will service all of Monroe County and the surrounding communities. He is joining Todd Prochnow, D.O. at the Monroe office of Mercy Memorial Orthopedic and Spine Surgery.
Dr. Olenchak received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1995 from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine. Prior to attending medical school, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Olenchak completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Mount Clemens General Hospital, Mount Clemens, Mich., where he trained under the auspices of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Statewide Campus System. Through the MSU-COM program he received sub-specialty training in hand surgery, musculoskeletal tumor surgery, pediatric orthopedics and orthopedic trauma. He also completed clinical rotations at Detroit Receiving Hospital, Detroit; William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich.; and Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
Dr. Olenchak is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has participated in various research studies and has membership in several professional societies such as the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and Sigma Sigma Phi National Osteopathic Honor Society.
