Cardiopulmonary Rehab at 901 North Macomb Street, Suite 110
As one of the most common lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) makes breathing difficult through shortness of breath (dyspnea) that gets worse with mild activity, trouble catching one’s breath, coughing, with or without mucus, fatigue and wheezing. Patients with COPD usually have many respiratory infections and suffer from either chronic bronchitis (a long-term cough with mucus) or emphysema, which gradually destroys the lungs.
Mercy Memorial Hospital System hosts the American Lung Association’s Better Breathers Club, a free support group for family members and patients suffering with COPD. Better Breathers Club is held every fourth Tuesday of the month in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Education Room, located at 901 N. Macomb St., Suite 110 in Monroe. This is a community service that is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
