SERVICE 1. Any time an EMS agency must replace a licensed EMS vehicle with an unlicensed vehicle, the service is to advise Monroe County Medical Control immediately. If a vehicle approved or licensed by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry services for Advanced or Limited Advanced Mobile Emergency Care is taken out of service, for maintenance or other reasons, the following action must be taken: A. If the vehicle is to be out of service for less than 24 hours the service must advise the Monroe County Medical Control Authority and the on-line Medical Control physician of the situation. The service may then transfer ALS and BLS patient care and communications equipment to a non-authorized vehicle. B. If the vehicle is to be out of service more than 24 hours the service must advise the Monroe County Medical Control Authority and also notify the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services E.M.S. Division Director of the situation. MDCIS may authorize another vehicle on a temporary basis for the provision of ALS or limited ALS care if all ALS and BLS patient care and communications equipment is transferred to that vehicle. It will be the responsibility of the EMS agency to notify on-line medical control and the EMS Medical Director of the situation.
